It is hard to beat the combination of a gracious host with Bryan Cumby and perfect weather for great T5 camping. Thanks to all that helped make a fun and rewarding weekend!
T5 is lucky to have a thriving group of scouts ranging in age from 5th grade through high school seniors. Every once in a while, we need to remind our scouts about the core tenets of the Scout Oath and Law of being trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, and reverent when our boys are interacting with others.
I'd like to ask parents to re-emphasize with each scout the need to act with respectable behavior when we are together. It is important that our boys are inclusive of others, treat each other the way they want to be treated, respect privacy, prevent or stop rumors, and are willing to speak up with each other or an adult if they see something not quite right.
Thank you for your support and partnership in maintaining a safe, respectful environment for all members of our troop.
We want to encourage you to attend the Cumby Ranch campout this weekend. Bryan and Colten, and family have a great property and have been phenomenal hosts for us in the past few years. We have a rich program planned and if the weather holds, we should have an epic weekend. Sign up here: https://austin5.mytroop.us/node/2799/signup/register
Calling all T5 scouts to register for Merit Badge Camp at Campo Daniel Boone, close to Asheville, NC June 28-July 4, 2026. The stats are something like your scout is 80% more likely to make Eagle if they attend at least one MB camp. Adults can attend, but are not required. This is a GREAT experience for middle school aged scouts, but all are welcome. Honchos are Lee Rehwinkle and Michael Baird. Cost will be in the $1400-1750 range depending on final itinerary and flights, and most scouts are able to offset a significant portion of this cost by selling mulch in are fundraiser starting in January. More details on travel, final cost, etc will come out later in the year. Check the video below for a short preview.
With sadness, we are recognizing the passing of a great T5 adult leader, Dean Jett. Dean was active in T5 for many years, leading the troop as committee chair and deeply enjoyed the camaraderie of the scouts and other adults.
Also if you know a P20 scout parent, let them know about the campout! Cub Scout come for the 2nd night only, and it's free for them and their parent. Feel free to download and share the attached flyer and text it to parents to let them know. You can give them Justin Aquilia's number. It's 4074465307.
